Turtle ring

I started carving a turtle ring today out of wax. This is the first time I've tried to carve a ring using proper jewellers wax. I think it's looking ok for a first attempt.

The detail is a bit sketchy and abstract but I've seen worse. Not sure if I should try to make the actual ring thinner and neater or quit while I'm ahead. I guess if I break it I can stick it back together or just cast the turtle and attach it to a ring later.

Just one little problem...I've never done any lost wax casting before, so I'll have to figure that out and perhaps get some silicone to make a copy of my turtle before I completely stuff it up.I have a lump of pewter to practice casting with.
