I carved another turtle this afternoon.
The idea is to be able to solder it onto any ring or pendant bail etc as required.
This one seems to be a whole lot better than yesterday's effort and makes the first attempt look pretty ordinary.
I found a place that does one off casting for hobbyists as well as for the trade. No doubt a few places do that but this one is an Australian family owned and operated business, that has been operating for about 47 years and the founder, Tony Eccles, won an Order of Australia for "services to the jewellery craft". They also list basic prices and conditions on their internet site, which seems promising.
So hopefully one day soon I'll send them my blue turtle or perhaps something better, and see how it turns out.
One day I would like to be able to carve something as well as this.
